Sports Betting Drives Bwin.Party Results_1
iGaming Business – Online gaming operator bwin.party has reported that despite losses in its casino, poker and bingo divisions, the success of its sports betting arm helped it achieve year-on-year revenue growth during the three months to September 30, 2014.
The company reported total revenue of €148.7 million ($190.4 million) in the third quarter, which is up 2% on the €145.7 million posted in the same period last year.
Bwin.party noted that, excluding the losses in Greece, its revenue would have increased by 4%.
Sports betting generated €58.8 million of total revenue, which is 11% higher than the €52.9 million it collected in the corresponding period last year.
However, revenue the operator’s poker business fell 25% to €17.5 million, casino and games dropped 3% while its bingo division remained relatively flat with a 1% decrease to €12.1 million.
Bwin.party also noted that its mobile and touch services represented 23% of gross gaming revenue, up from just 13% in the previous year, while other revenue also jumped by 64%.
